PEORIA, Ill. — Monica Hendrickson of the Peoria City/County Health Department said the tri-county area’s COVID-19 positive tests were up to four, as of Tuesday afternoon.
Hendrickson said the two new cases were from Peoria County.
She also said the first two cases were in home isolation and recovering well.
Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis has announced no public will be able to enter City Hall starting Wednesday.
City Manager Patrick Urich said online services, e-mail, and phone would still be available for city business to be conducted.
Urich said City Council would likely conduct meetings over the phone, and business would be limited to timely issues.
Ardis also said a disaster declaration will be made Wednesday for Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.
Despite the fact a COVID-19 vaccine is not currently available, Dr. Gregg Stoner advised still to get flu vaccines through the end of flu season — the end of April, he said — as it’s possible to have more than one upper respiratory problem at a time.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said funeral homes in the area will operate differently.
Greg Henderson of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association warned no more than ten people will be allowed to view bodies at one time, per CDC guidelines.
