PEORIA, Ill. – The Catholic Church Dioceses in Illinois, including Peoria, are issuing a statement detailing how they will handle allegations of sexual abuse going forward.
The seven page statement was, according to the church, prompted by an investigation by the Illinois Attorney General.
It has reviewed current policies and “implemented certain changes” — all, they say, to the benefit of transparency.
The churches say as always, the safety and protection of children, and “the fair and compassionate treatment of those who report abuse will remain paramount factors in our actions.”
