WEST PEORIA, Ill. – Renovations at a former nursing home are leading to donations for a Peoria-based organization.
Carle Health affiliate Trillium Place is donating furniture from the former Heddington Oaks facility to EP!C. Heddington Oaks is being converted into the Trillium Place Young Minds Center, a mental health hospital.
Furniture items being donated include hospital beds, wheelchairs, hover lifts, nightstands, office furniture, and more.
Dean Steiner, Executive Director of Outpatient Services and Provider Relations for Trillium Place, says the effort is part of the company’s mission.
“One of the things that we’ve looked at over the years is our relationship with different social service agencies and residences that we can share, share the wealth in a sense, and be able to benefit the entire community,” Steiner said.
EP!C Chief Operating Officer Doris Hayes says the donations will make a significant difference to the people they serve.
“Many of our individuals don’t have the finances to be able to purchase brand new equipment,” Hayes said. “A hospital bed costs between $2,000 and $5,000. S0 the donations that they’re getting will be life-changing for some of our individuals.”
Hayes says the donations also helps achieve a goal of independence for those they help.
Hayes says donations they received from Trillium Place will go to their group homes and to their headquarters on Townline Road.
