PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — All lanes of Route 29 were shut down at the intersection of Washington St. in Rome after an accident Monday afternoon around 3 p.m.
According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened when a car pulled off Washington St. onto Route 29 in front of another car.
Police said an occupant of one of the vehicles was taken by Life Flight helicopter to a local hospital. An ambulance transported a second person in the same car to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Police said two people in the other car were also taken to the hospital, but they did not suffer serious injuries.
All lanes have since been reopened on Route 29.
