PEORIA, Ill. — Dozens of people were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C. as crowds of supporters of President Donald Trump waged an attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Former Illinois Congressman and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, that what happened inside the Capitol Building was “outrageous.”
“I knew there was going to be trouble brewing, because they were encouraging people to be violent, to take back their government, as if it had been taken away from them,” LaHood said.
According to LaHood, President Trump should be removed from office, either by his cabinet, by the 25th amendment or by impeachment.
LaHood adds, “Two weeks is too long for him to remain in charge.”
Washington, D.C. Police said at least 14 officers were injured in the attack on the Capitol. One woman was shot and killed inside the Capitol Building and three other people died after suffering medical emergencies.
“Watching this, it’s going down in the history books. And, there’s no reason to think that Trump should stay in office,” LaHood said.
