WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said during his daily address on Monday that there are ten therapeutic agents in active trials to fight COVID-19.
“Currently ten different therapeutic agents are in active trials,” said Trump.
Trump continued to say that more are on the way in addition to the ten being tested already.
“Another 15 are in plans for clinical trials,” said Trump. “So, they’re advancing rapidly.”
Therapeutic agents are used to treat patients when sick. However, two vaccines are now also being tested.
“Today a second company announced that the FDA has authorized its vaccine candidate to begin clinical trials,” said Trump.
Trump said that Johnson & Johnson was the first company to begin testing a vaccine, but he did not say who the second company was.
