UPDATE: PEORIA, Ill. – A police standoff at a Peoria house ends without incident and the arrest of one man.
Police were called to a residence on South Blaine Street on a report of trouble with a man.
As they arrived, officers attempted to make contact with the man, identified as Matthew Burnside, 52, who had barricaded himself inside the house and refused commands to come out. Police were also informed Burnside was armed with a rifle.
Burnside still refused to leave the residence after SWAT and police negotiators arrived at the scene.
After SWAT deployed chemical munitions inside several areas of the residence, Burnside eventually exited the front door and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers then executed a search warrant and located a .22 caliber rifle.
Burnside was arrested and transported to the Peoria County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and resisting/obstructing police. Burnside also had active warrants for a parole violation and domestic battery/criminal damage to property.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say an adult male barricaded himself inside a residence on S. Blaine Street around 2 p.m. Friday.
Garden Street and S. Blaine Street have been blocked.
PPD Spokesperson Semone Roth says negotiators were called to the scene along with other officers, as they’re trying to talk the man out of the home.
