PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident early Monday morning.
Peoria Police say John Timothy, Jr., 39, turned himself in Wednesday morning and is charged with a number of counts, including Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death, Reckless Driving, Failure to Give Aid or Information, and Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.
Timothy allegedly struck and killed Akeem Alexander, 28, who was riding a bicycle near Howett and Western, but the vehicle was found later abandoned and with front end damage on West Antoinette.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Alexander died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Timothy is in the Peoria County Jail.
