PEORIA, Ill. – The next stage of incubation, if you will, of a local business incubator is beginning in earnest.
Officials with Distillery Labs say they are now ready to search for their new Executive Director in order to to — according to a news release — “build on the programming and entrepreneurial education already done….”
Distillery Labs was started by a number of groups including OSF HealthCare and others to aide in business development.
The hiring is being done as the firm’s board of directors says they’ve completed the bid process of the renovation of the former Illinois Central College building at Adams and Fulton Streets downtown.
Construction is scheduled to start this summer and be done next year.
“We’re all breathing a sigh of relief that we’ve finally reached the construction phase,” said Chris Setti, interim Executive Director and member of the board of directors for Distillery Labs, in a news release. “Inflation headwinds, labor shortages, and general supply chain issues in construction resulted in unfortunate delays over the last two years, but the team has worked incredibly hard to create a project the entire Greater Peoria region can be proud of and will support our local entrepreneurs and innovators for decades to come.”
The name is an homage to the city’s history as a whiskey distilling town, but is not Distillery Labs’ purpose.
