PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has formalized charges for a Hanna City man accused of committing a fatal crash in the area of the Shoppes at Grand Prairie about a month ago.
The grand jury is filing charges against Jeremy Perry, 43, including three counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, and one count of Driving on a Revoked License.
A charge of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding filed by State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos wasn’t filed by the grand jury.
The mid-January crash claimedthe life of Miriam Schmid, 43, of Edwards, started when Perry fled the scene of a drug overdose being treated at the Kickapoo-Edwards Road Shell station.
The documents allege Perry had methamphetamine in his system at the time, along with previous convictions.
No word on when Perry will be arraigned, or if he has even been arrested since the crash.
