PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say four people were arrested Wednesday in the latest special enforcement detail that’s a part of Chief Eric Echevarria’s Anti-Violence Initiative.
Echevarria says 19 officers made 21 vehicle stops, issued seven tickets, and impounded four vehicles.
Among the arrests, though, the chief says was a 15-year-old juvenile who attempted to flee from officers in a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near Perry and Wayne. Police charged the teen with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, and Resisting Police. He was released to his mother.
Another vehicle that sped away from officers was later found and impounded, but no arrest was made.
Also Wednesday, Police accused Addonis Dent, 31, of ignoring police commands to pull over near Saint Martin and Riverwest. Dent was later found on Southwest Jefferson parking the car at a home, and tried to flee again, this time on foot. But, Dent was caught and charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Obstructing Police, and Disregarding Stop Signs. He’s now in jail.
“This is just another example of how dedicated the men and women of the Peoria Police Department are at ridding our streets of violent offenders,” said Echevarria, in a news release. “These Directed Patrols are getting positive results. They will continue until all Peoria community members feel safe in their neighborhoods.”
