PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner is releasing the name of the victim in Thursday morning’s deadly car accident near downtown Peoria.
Coroner Jamie Harwood says preliminary autopsy results on Jeremiah Burgess, 37, of Peoria indicates he likely died instantly from severe, multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The accident happened just after 4:00 a.m. Thursday near Jefferson and Abington.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated by Peoria Police. The driver of the car that struck Burgess is still not identified, but that person is said to be cooperating with police so far.
