PEORIA, Ill. — We’re learning much more today about an old infant death case that is linked to the mother who now stands accused of killing her 8-year-old son here in Peoria.
This is in relation to Stephanie Jones, who faces murder charges for Navin Jones death earlier this year.
But now, there are new questions about the death of her infant child — Navin Jones’ half brother — 15 years ago.
According to 25 News, an investigation coordinated with the Peoria County Coroner, Peoria Police Department and Peoria County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the 2007 death of little Nigel Ragon was not Sudden Infant Death Syndrome as originally reported.
Investigators still don’t know precisely how the boy died, but it certainly throws new suspicion the mother’s way.
She and Navin’s father Brandon Walker are charged in his death and awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to the murder charges.
