PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Area Anti-Hunger Coalition has partnered with Kroger in sponsoring the 2022 FoodShare CANATHON.
The CANATHON runs through April 1, and collection bins have been set up in all area Kroger stores.
Event Co-Chair Marjorie LaFant, told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, canned foods are in very short supply.
“The past two years have been really rough on folks, and our pantries have really struggled. We weren’t able to do the CANATHON in 2020 or 2021 because of the pandemic, so our pantry shelves are really bare, we really need to do the CANATHON this year,” LaFant said.
Bags filled with non-perishable foods can be dropped off at Kroger, or you can purchase suggested food items when shopping at Kroger stores, then place them in the bin at front of store.
SUGGESTED FOOD ITEMS TO DONATE:
Canned meats, tuna, chicken, soups, stews, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, or box dinners.
Volunteers from the Peoria Area Anti-Hunger Coalition will be promoting the Foodshare CANATHON on Saturdays and Sundays on March 19-20 and March 26-27.
FOODSHARE CANATHON bins have been placed at the following KROGER SUPERMARETS:
Bartonville
Canton
Chillicothe
East Peoria
Morton
Pekin
Peoria: Lake Street
Lindberg
Sterling
Washington
For the past 37 years the Peoria Area Anti-Hunger Coalition has conducted the annual Foodshare CANATHON.
For more than 30,000 people each month in Central Illinois, food security is a problem.
