PEORIA, Ill. — The East Bluff Community Center has announced it will be rolling out a new and improved facility.
“It’s really based around having a new logo, and we’re going to use that for driving a building revitalization. We’re going to be doing a lot of painting and design within the building,” said EBCC Executive Director Kari Jones.
“We’re in an old school building, so it still looks like an old school. So, this rebranding — I call it kind of branding, because we’ve never had a brand before — is going to drive also a beautification of the building, using the same colors and concepts this new logo has.”
The logo, which will be revealed live during the launch at 4 P.M. on Feb. 25 via the community center’s Facebook page, was designed by John Seckler, a graphic designer who rents studio space within the building and who is also spearheading the new interior decorating plans, from the entryway to conference rooms.
“He really has been the driving force behind this branding. The concept of it and making it happen,” Jones credited.
“It all comes out of his love for this building and what we’re trying to do for the East Bluff community.”
Jones, the center’s first-ever full-time Executive Director, said the launch will also include the unveiling of the results of a community survey.
Representatives spoke to about 240 households in the East Bluff, or roughly 11% of East Bluff households.
“We’re going to be talking about how we’re using that assessment to drive partnerships and the services we’re trying to bring in through these partnerships, really focusing on youth development right now. We’ve been having lots of meetings with different agencies in Peoria who are getting ready to start doing more services here,” she said.
“Right now, we already have Boys and Girls Club in the building, we have YMCA doing a basketball program, we have a boxing program, but we’re really trying to expand and diversify what we’re offering the community, like right now we’re planning with Peoria Art Guild to bring in art programming for the community, [and] we’re planning with ‘Look. It’s My Book’ to do book distributions for youth in the community.
“And that’s just a couple. We’ve got a lot of stuff in the works we’re excited to let the community know is going to be available soon.”
Along with the building’s renovation will be updates to the center’s social media and website, Jones added.
