This yearโs pollen levels are very high and itโs early in the seasonโฆ.and itโs a global issue which means you canโt escape the pollen. If you are sneezing, coughing and feeling the effects, thereโs help. British cleaning expert Lynsey Crombie, is giving tips on how to handle the pollen that enters your home.
- Dusting is key. Crombie notes โDamp dusting is far more effective at capturing dust โ rather than just dispersing it into the air.โ Use a damp microfiber cloth and donโt miss a spot in your home
- Vacuum three to four times a week. Crombie shares โGo north to south and east to west, this way youโre getting into the carpet pile and picking up all allergens.โ
- Pull out large furniture and dust behind as well as vacuum
- Vacuum upholstery
- Declutter so there are less items pollen can settle on
- Clean your bed, bedding, and mattress frequently
- Steam cleaning is a great way to battle allergens
- Keep windows and doors closed on high pollen count days, especially in the morning and early evening when pollen levels are highest.
- If you are outside for an extended time, put your clothes in the washing machine and take a shower ASAP after coming inside
