SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa – A man from Peoria died after a crash last (Sunday) night in Iowa involving a semi-truck and an SUV.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred on Interstate 80 about a mile west of the I-280 interchange just before 9:45 P.M.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the semi made contact with the rear end of the SUV, causing the SUV to enter the south side ditch, where it came to a rest.
The 52-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle’s other two passengers, a 52-year-old female and 16-year-old male, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The sheriff’s office says all three in the SUV are from Peoria.
The semi truck’s driver, a 31-year-old from Idaho, was not injured.
The crash is under investigation.
