PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Federation of Teachers is once again at odds with the Superintendent of Peoria Public Schools – and once again it has to do with a familiar problem.
The union claims Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat disparaged a teacher’s reputation, in a letter sent to the full District 150 school board. They claim she also allegedly yelled at a union official, and administration denied a grievance the union filed.
It’s not clear how or by what means, but the union says the teacher was simply trying to save an art program.
The union has long claimed arts programs are suffering, while Kherat claims they were flourishing.
The union claims they helped paved the way for Kherat to return to the district as superintendent, after allegedly left a job as principal at Manual two weeks in to the school year.l
A district spokesperson tells WMBD Radio News she’s not familiar with what the union is talking about, when asked for a response.
