PEORIA, Ill. — An arrest has been made in connection with the suspected arson at the Lexington Hills Apartments in Peoria late Thursday night.
Police Spokesperson Semone Roth confirms 56-year-old Becky Rutherford was arrested in relation to the fire. She was booked in the Peoria County Jail Friday morning before being released later in the day.
Preliminary charges against Rutherford include Aggravated Arson and Battery.
19 residents in a dozen units were displaced by Thursday’s fire. According to 25 News, the apartment complex got started on repairs Friday morning so the families could return home Friday night.
