MACOMB, Ill. – We’re learning more about the, so far, one person arrested after a weekend shooting near Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Police say Donnell Williams, 23 of Macomb, is the one being charged with Armed Violence.
Authorities believe Williams — a former WIU student — had drugs in his possession as well as a gun, leading to the Armed Violence charge.
The shooting at a partly on off-campus housing early Saturday claimed the life of Jerman Beathea, 26, of Chicago. Authorities say he was pronounced dead at the scene, while ten other people police say are expected to recover from their wounds. Six of those are said to be WIU students.
Police say more charges could be filed, and more arrests could be made.
