PEKIN, Ill. – A former Bradley University student has pleaded guilty to a number of charges in connection with a fatal crash she caused last year.
Tazewell County Circuit Court records indicate Stephanie Melgoza, 24, pleaded guilty Thursday to several counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Reckless Driving, and DUI.
Failure to Reduce Speed, and alcohol and cannabis possession charges were dropped in exchange.
Melgoza allegedly struck and killed Andrea Rosewicz, 43, and Paul Prowant, 55, both out of state residents, last April 10th, as the two walked along North Main Street in East Peoria.
Melgoza reportedly admitted to drinking before the crash, and wasn’t allowed to participate in Bradley’s commencement ceremonies as a result of her arrest.
She’s scheduled to be sentenced April 27th.
