ST. DAVID, Ill. – Officials from three area agencies are being hailed as heroes as they successfully rescued a man before he could drown.
The Fulton County Sheriffs Department says their deputies and ambulance personnel, along with firefighters from Buckheart, were called to an area outside St. David Thursday for a possible drowning victim.
The man fell through the ice and was holding on to an ice shelf.
Firefighters were able to get a rope to the man from a boat and got him to a bank.
The sheriffs department says deputies then pulled the man on to the shore and took him 100 yards to a side-by-side that could take him to an ambulance.
The department says quick thinking helped saved the man’s life.
