PEORIA, Ill. – A musician with Peoria roots and who had big sucess working for years with Prince is starting a foundation to help more youth and adults alike get interested and involved in the arts.
LiV Warfield has launched the LenaBlu Foundation — named after her aunt.
“She was always pouring into my talent, and I found my talent older in life, but it is moreso about paying it forward to any of these artists,” said Warfield, to WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show.” “It is all ages, so we aim to build community through art.”
And, Warfield says that will be through mentorships, workshops, and events.
“It’s also more the energy of paying it forward,” said Warfield. “I just want to add to that energy that Peoria already has bubbling. I would love to work with anybody in Peoria that we can add to that, and enhance, that energy, wherever we can help.”
Warfield has already had some fundraisers featuring music, fashion, and other forms of art in the Chicago area.
Those efforts continue in the Peoria area with a performance of the Lynn Grissett Quartet Monday night at the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Arts.
