PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury this week filed charges against several people accused in recent weapons-related crimes, and one of them has already pleaded not guilty.
Peoria County Court records indicate Adrin Terrell (pictured above), 32, is charged with Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and possession of a weapon by a felon. He pleaded not guilty Thursday and asked for a trial by jury. The charges stem from a May 30th incident where Terrell allegedly shot at a car near Maryland and Nebraska, sending a female victim to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Terrell, who remains jailed, will be back in court December first, ahead of a potential trial later in the month.
The grand jury is also charging Duran Gladney, 30, with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Peoria Police went to a home near Hightower and Martin Luther King, Junior Drive September 7th, after court documents say he fired a gun at an occupied vehicle. Police originally arrested him on those two counts, along with several criminal damage charges not filed by prosecutors.
Gladney remains jailed, and will be arraigned October 20.
Myriece Byrd, 20, is facing two counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was charged originally with several additional weapons charges.
Byrd allegedly got into a fight with a man at a business near Knoxville and Maywood September 18th, with the man claiming Byrd pulled a gun on him. Byrd was pulled over a short time later and a loaded gun was allegedly found in his car.
Byrd is out of jail on bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned next Thursday.
