PEORIA, Ill. — There will be a little more for families to enjoy at Peoria Play House Children’s Museum next year thanks to a massive donation from the Gilmore Foundation.
On Tuesday, the Peoria Park District announced a total of $400,000 in charitable donations received in order to benefit a reported upgrade and expansion project slated for 2023-2024 at the facility.
The project will include the construction of new youth creative space on the porch at Peoria PlayHouse.
According to a Park District release, the new portion of the children’s museum will include an interactive exhibit where the Park District says kids will be able to learn “trades and various forms of building”.
In this week’s announce, the Gilmore Foundation reminded about its dedication to advancing youth development and education in the Peoria community.
Construction on the new play space and kids’ creation center is expected to begin after the New Year.
