PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria says thirteen people were arrested and five traffic tickets were issued in a several hour period Monday.
The chief and police say another special enforcement detail was conducted under Echevarria’s Anti-Violence Initiative.
In one of the more notable arrests, police say they were conducting surveillance at a home on North MacArthur associated with Duran Gladney, 30. They approached his vehicle when it went to a nearby business and arrested him, on a number of weapons charges, along with three counts of Aggravated Assault, and Driving on a Suspended License.
Police made reference to an ongoing investigation in making the arrest, but otherwise did not specify.
In another incident, police say they were conducting surveillance at a home near Behrends and Indiana Avenues, when Adrin Terrell, 33, drove away.
When they tried to stop his car at Corrington and Wisconsin, the vehicle fled and made a sudden stop, at which time Terrell allegedly got out and fled on foot. After searching for an hour with a K-9, Terrell was found on Seneca inbetween Wisconsin and Maryland.
Terrell — who was also wanted on a warrant — is being charged in an earlier case with Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Domestic Battery, and Possession of a Weapon without a FOID card. He was charged in another case with Domestic Battery, Battery, and Criminal Damage to Property, and is now in jail.
“The men and women of the Peoria Police Department work long hours to make sure these Directed Patrols are successful. The goal of these patrols is to rid our streets of criminals, drugs, and illegal weapons. That has been the focus of this Anti-Violence Initiative from the very beginning and that is still our focus today.” — Chief Eric Echevarria, in a news release
