TABLE GROVE, Ill. – Authorities have identified the man killed in Monday night’s officer-involved shooting in Fulton County.
Illinois State Police and County Coroner Steve Hines have identified the man as Jeremiah Jones, 38. Hines says preliminary autopsy results indicate Jones, of Evansville, Indiana, died of gunshot wounds.
Authorities say two Fulton County Sheriffs Deputies were searching for Jones, wanted for Domestic Battery, when Jones allegedly pointed a gun at the deputies during an encounter around 10:00 p.m. Monday.
The two are believed to have fired shots at Jones, killing him, near Fulton County Road 13 and East Bailey Road, near Table Grove.
State Police describe the situation as “an active and ongoing investigation.”
