WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. — Teachers in two Woodford County school districts are part of a lawsuit challenging Illinois’ COVID-19 mitigation efforts as an employment requirement.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, Attorney Thomas DeVore filed the lawsuit Monday in Sangamon County Circuit Court in Springfield. Defendants include Gov. J-B Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education.
Congerville-Eureka-Goodfield District 140 and Roanoke-Benson District 60 are among 21 school districts in the state listed as additional defendants in DeVore’s class-action suit.
A court hearing regarding a temporary restraining order was scheduled for Jan. 3, according to DeVore.
