ARVADA, Colo. — A gunman among the dead in a shooting that also claimed the life of a police officer and another person in a Denver suburb.
Police said an officer, a 19-year veteran of the department, Gordon Beesley, was responding to reports of suspicious activity Monday when the shooting happened near the City of Arvada library, and minutes later, a 911 call came in about shots fired and an officer down.
A Good Samaritan, also believed to have been shot by the gunman, was taken to a hospital where they later died.
The gunman was shot and killed by police.
Police have not determined a motive for the shooting.
